Head of Department Massage

Ege University Physics Department

The department was rooted back in 1961, and since its establishment, we have been one of the traditional departments in Turkey. The physics department includes five subdivisions, General Physics, Atomic and Molecular Physics, Nuclear Physics, Solid State Physics, and Mathematical Physics, with its broad range of laboratory options and experienced academic personnel. The department provides undergraduate and postgraduate education and research activities at national and international levels.

We aim to train well-equipped and well-educated human capital and contribute to scientific developments and innovations on an international level. One of our priorities is establishing strong links between the scientific environment and industry and transferring academic knowledge into application.

From the teaching point of view, in 2010, the department updated its education system according to Bologne Process and started to apply European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). The education duration for a bachelor's degree is eight terms and 240 ECTS. To graduate, students must complete a minimum of 176 ECTS (75%) compulsory and 64 ECTS (25%) electives. 30% of the mandatory courses are in English (73 ECTS), and 70% of them (103 ECTS) must be in Turkish. We aim to introduce the process of modern scientific methodology and to keep updated our curriculum using contemporary developments and achievements in the field. We provide a broad range of elective courses for our students' areas of interest, and we also offer double-major opportunities for our students.

From the research point of view, the physics department includes six research laboratories: Biophysics Research Laboratory, Dynamic System Research Laboratory, Superconductor-Quantum Device Laboratory, Nuclear Physics Research Laboratory, Liquid Cyrstal Research Laboratory, and Optical Material Research Laboratory. The laboratories are open to postgraduate and final-year project students under the supervision of responsible academic staff.

As the head of the department, I would like to invite you to join our team at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and please do not hesitate to contact us for further details.
